Senior Oracle Data Modelling Expert
Our client, a large financial institution in Zürich, seeks an experienced
Senior Oracle Data Modelling Expert.
You will be part of a database team that provides standardized database installations and administration toolsets to IT covering Oracle, MSSQL and Sybase DB Technology. The job concentrates on high availability and disaster recovery services for the Oracle Database Technology. The customized builds are currently certified on Solaris 8 & 10, Linux (RedHat and SUSE), and Windows 2003.
Tasks include:
- Data Model Analysis on the DB2 / Mainframe and Application estate
- Participating in test cases of Oracle RAC and Synchronous Data Guard Configurations with Emphasis on Optimizing the Data Model for Performance
- Analysis of balancing Normalized Data Design against Flat Data Design with respect to Performance and Data Maintainability
- Deriving a Framework of Best Practices Recommendations related to optimal Data Design for Application Developers in case of High Transactional RAC Databases
- Ongoing Data Design Support for Application Developers, creating Test Cases for Data Model Assessments of existing Applications
Experience / Expertise
- Proven Oracle DB Operations or Engineering skills
- Working experience on standardized large environments
- Working experience in large financial organizations
- Performance Tuning for Oracle RAC and Oracle Data Guard
- Data Modelling and Design Physical/Logical
- Experienced in Data Normalization techniques and in estimating the performance benefits / caveats of Normal Forms
- Process Partitioning (Data Dependant Routing) and Data Partitioning experience
- Oracle 10g/11g (5+ years)
- Oracle RAC (3+ years)
- Oracle Data Guard (3+ years)
Additional desirable experience
- Experience with Data Design and Performance of DB2 on Mainframe
- Data Modelling Tools (e.g. ERWIN) and Visualization Techniques (UML)
- J2EE Development and BEA Weblogic Server Deployment
- Participation in large Technology Migration Projects
Education
- University degree in computer science or equivalent
- Oracle Certified Professional or Oracle Certified Master is desired
Languages
- Excellent English (German is a plus)
