Our client, a large financial institution in Zürich, seeks an experienced Senior Oracle Database Engineer.

You will be part of a database team that provides standardized database installations and administration toolsets to IT, concentrating on high availability and disaster recovery services for the Oracle Database Technology.

Tasks include:

• Investigate and analyze Oracle RAC and Data Guard configurations and contribute to Guidelines and Best Practices
• Take part in creating Data Design Recommendations and SQL Best Practices against Oracle RAC and Data Guard set-ups
• Understand impacts and assist in planning large scale Migrations of Databases from DB2/Mainframe to Oracle RAC Clusters
• Develop Monitoring and Maintenance Concepts for a large platform of replicated Cluster DBs based on Oracle Grid Control
• Participate in developing builds and components of Oracle DB Software on Solaris (if necessary on Linux) Operating Systems
• Analyze, improve and develop Perl scripts used by DB Operations
• Integrate tightly into the working processes of global DB Engineering, Platform Development and Provisioning
• Collaborate with DB Operations and provide 3rd level support on request

• Proven Oracle DB Operations or Engineering skills
• Working experience on standardized large environments
• Working experience in large financial organizations
• Problem Solving and Cross-Technical Integration
• DB and JDBC Debugging, Testing
• 5 or more years experience with Oracle 10g/11g
• 3 or more years experience with RAC, Data Guard, Grid Control 10
• 2 or more years Solaris OS experience as well as Shell and Perl Scripting

• You are team-oriented, while used to working independently. You enjoy becoming involved in your work and have a strong feeling of commitment. As everyone in the team has, you will have periodic on-call duty.

• University degree in computer science or equivalent
• Oracle Certified Professional or Oracle Certified Master is desired

• Excellent English (German is a plus)
